TMAX – SCOOTING’S NEW APEX PREDATOR
Like a two-wheeled T-Rex, the new TMAX towers at the top of Yamaha’s scooter food chain. Powerful and agile, it can move in an instant from convenient and efficient maxi-commuter to exhilarating sport motorcycle.
Our engineers have created a host of meaningful improvements to further enhance the Yamaha TMAX’s reputation as THE maxi scooter with motorcycle performance.
A SPORTY STRUCTURE
The compact new aluminium frame is made of the same CF (Controlled Fill) die cast construction as those on our supersport race bikes, while a new 15-inch front wheel provides better rough road performance and handling than ever.
There’s also new R1 derived 4-pot aluminium monobloc brake calipers, hollow design three-spoke alloy wheels, improved seat and fresh body design. TMAX – it’s the maxi scooter with the sports performance.
♦ Laid flat and transmitting seamlessly through a V-belt transmission, TMAX’s 499cc fuel-injected, parallel twin four-stroke features new fuel injection settings for even greater low-and mid-speed torque, and improved passing acceleration.
♦ V-belt transmission means no gears or manual clutch when you roll away from the lights. Just a smooth, seamless acceleration from idle to motorway speed, and the stability of engine braking when you roll off.
♦ Brand new CF (Controlled Fill) die cast aluminium frame is more compact and allows our engineers to very accurately balance rigidity and flexibility in the areas where it matters most.
♦ High-spec suspension, all round disc brakes with new 4-pot type aluminium monobloc callipers up front and sporty hollow design three-spoke alloy wheels shod with fat rubber. A dynamic maxi-commuter and adrenalin pumping mountain road performer that blends riding comfort with convenient scooter practicalities, that’s T-Rex… sorry, TMAX.
♦ An additional benefit of the compact new CF die-cast aluminium frame is an increase in both storage space and fuel tank volume, with fuel cell capacity increasing from 14 to 15 litres.
♦ High performance engine/transmission combination gives TMAX an advantage launching at the lights, so you won’t have any trouble safely heading the traffic.
♦ Abundantly suited to life in the city, TMAX has all the convenience and luxury features you’d expect, like, engine immobiliser, parking brake and ample underseat storage.
♦ The plush rider surrounds of the TMAX cockpit include a new rider seat designed for even greater comfort and improved ground reach.
♦ From the TMAX pilot seat you can see all the relevant diagnostics at a glance, including the new symmetrical meter panel and trick LCD multifunction trip computer with flashing immobiliser light.
♦ Peace of mind: TMAX has put in the miles on roads down under, and is a proven reliable product backed by excellent parts availability and a massive established dealer and service network… like all Yamahas. It’s a claim not all scooter manufacturers can make.
