XV250 Virago
What do they say about small packages?
Small packages often have good things inside them, and when it comes to the Yamaha 250 Cruisers, never was a truer word spoken. Light, low, and with a smooth running engine with a beautiful spread of controllable roll-on power, Virago is a great way for a less experienced rider to not only build confidence, but look pretty groovy while doing it.
The smallest of the V-Star line, the 250 has the same mean, lean and low slung “don’t mess with me” attitude of its bigger brothers. But you get to ride it on a 250 licence, and enjoy the sinister pleasure of punishing the Bowser Barons every time you fill up! With rich paint, chrome accents, dual chrome exhausts and sculpted teardrop tank it is a look that’s classic cruiser, in a super reliable (and yes, small) package.
♦ Light weight and low seat height breed confidence in less experienced riders.
♦ 282mm front disc and sturdy rear drum brake for strong, controllable stopping power.
♦ With plenty of chrome and attention to detail; this is one sharp little cruiser, dual chrome exhausts look as good as they sound.
♦ V-twin 249cc air-cooled, 60-degree engine with long, 66mm stroke provides strong bottom-end torque, smooth roll-on power.
♦ Single 26mm Mikuni downdraft carburettor ensures optimal fuel/air mixing and delivery with superb throttle response.
♦ Wide ratio five-speed transmission makes great use of Virago’s power..
♦ Easy, dependable electric starting gets every journey off on the right foot..
♦ Automatic cam chain tensioner virtually eliminates maintenance and helps extend engine life..
♦ Long, low 1490mm wheelbase for great handling and manoeuvrability.
♦ Twin rear shocks with 100mm of travel and adjustable spring preload for load variation.
