Nothing better than putting the bite on a rider of bigger bike, is there?

You bide your time down the fire road knowing that when you get to the next tight section or singletrack you’ll use the light, compact dimensions, sharp handling and easier power to draw them in, frustrate them into submission, snake past and disappear entirely.

Of course you can only indulge in such mischief on a bike that fits like a glove – like Yamaha’s WR250F, with its high-revving five-titanium-valved engine and motocross-bred aluminium frame and suspension.

Like all our sports models, it’s borne out of Yamaha’s world-famous passion for competition, and our talent for enduring technological and conceptual innovation… all so you can eat those big bikes for breakfast.

   Terrain following plushness. Tapered swingarm and YZ-style linkage has a compliant rear suspension action just perfect for your Sunday exploits. The Kayaba shock features rebound, spring preload and high- and low-speed compression damping adjustability.

   Engine with character. Special WR camshafts, carburation and TPS (throttle position sensor) tuning, exhaust and ignition systems work together to produce a button-starting engine with great low and midrange power and lightning-quick throttle response. All with legendary WR reliability.

   The digital enduro computer is cool, offering speedometer, clock, tripmeter, etc. in basic mode, and offers pace management functions including timer, distance-compensating tripmeter, average speed and more when switched to race mode.

   The new brake rear pedal comes straight off the 2008 model YZs and features a new shape, awesome modulation, excellent stroke feeling and an outstanding correlation between force applied and braking effect.

Key features: 
   YZ-inspired aluminium frame reduces weight while optimising mass centralisation. An extensively tested assembly of aluminium forgings, castings and extrusions, the WR frame retains legendary Yamaha handling and response.
   Wave-type brake discs reduce unsprung weight and provide excellent performance. As per the ’08 YZs, lightweight screws have been adopted for the front brake attachment assembly to further reduce weight. Every little bit helps.
   New 6Ah battery (up from 4Ah) for more cranking power, while retaining the same overall dimensions.
   Cool YZ-derived bodywork, thick seat and ProTaper aluminium handlebar look great and provide a comfortable perch for long hours in the saddle. Slim-design, lightweight fuel tank holds 8 litres.
   High-revving, 249cc liquid-cooled, DOHC four-stroke with five titanium valves delivers excellent low- and midrange power, with high over-rev capacity and crisp, linear throttle response.
   No tools” airbox uses hinge-type quick-open lid. The battery rides low to contribute to low C of G and sharp handling.
   Large-capacity radiators with reinforcements ensure maximum cooling efficiency with great strength.
   Clutch lever provides the ability to adjust take-up without stopping, utilizing an oversize barrel adjuster that can be easily operated by a gloved hand.
   Lightweight 21-inch front and 18-inch rear rims provide exceptional durability and help reduce unsprung weight for optimal suspension performance, while front wheel collar makes front wheel removal quick and easy.
   One-piece, high-strength, plastic skid plate shaves weight and offers great protection.
   Lightweight, 35-watt headlight and sweet LED taillight maximise visibility and draw less current.
